About the Realm

Our community began on December 15th, 2019. We started with five players and have since grown to nearly 70 players in the year and a half that we've been operational.  After we launched, our community began to grow via word of mouth slowly without an easy interface to connect on. In early 2021, we created a website for anyone to visit and apply to join.

The first country to form was The Sovereign Kingdom of Cobblestan, led by The Cobbleking, The State Of Wisconsin. Meanwhile, the Infernal Republic of Abaddon, a Nether-based country, was being created by ICERTW0.  The Soviet Onion, "Joseph McCarthistan, Previously Known as Club Sodastan," and many other small nations would come and go leaving behind their historical landmarks to dot the landscape. 

In early January 2020, the Nether Highway was constructed, connecting 4 locations across the overworld to each other.  It was expanded and mob-proofed later on. The Highway Iceway got added onto the Highway sometime in July 2020. Then February of 2021 marked the Highway's official shopping district opening; this finally allowed players to sell their products without being online at the same time as the buyers. 

On March 3rd, 2021, a discussion about changing the realm's official currency from gold to another resource began. After some contemplation and community discussion, the conclusion was that the best currency system would use written books signed by the admins and filled with certain random combinations of letters, numbers, and symbols would be the most secure currency. From March 8th through the 13th, the vote took place to determine whether we would swap to a new currency. The outcome of the vote resulted in our official currency switching from gold to the new book-based system.  By the 13th, Moderator The State Of Wisconsin was already preparing farms for ink, sugar cane, and other supplies to feed our new immense demand for these resources. by April 18th, Gold₦ote, or ₦ was being minted.

On the 9th of March, 2021, the member NogrA70 would form what would later become one of the wealthiest and most influential nations in the world. It started off small as an underground bunker, but over time would become one of the largest manmade chasms ever seen. Lithopolis began as a subterranean nation, but as time went on, it began to break the surface and put more effort into its naval front than any nation prior.

On 21st June 2021, Someone vandalized the realm. The realm had been filled with inflammatory signs and destroyed buildings. Shops had been ransacked. After only 12 hours, a culprit had been discovered, and he was immediately banned from the realm. In all the confusion, though, one thing shined through about our community. They all banded together to fix the damages almost immediately. In fact, by the time the admin got on to assess the situation, all the main damages had been fixed by our community members already. This proved to us that we are a strong bunch who can get through whatever is thrown at us.

In June, an attempt was made to unload our unused chunks and allow players to experience the first half of the Caves and Cliffs features, and for the first time, the unloading failed, and instead of the chunks being unloaded, they were deleted. This meant that the world was filled with massive empty holes that spanned hundreds of chunks. Fortunately, 1 month later, after 2 more failed attempts, a new program was found that could unload all the chunks in the world that weren't being used. We have since been able to enjoy the new terrain generation within walking distance of all of our builds.

Since 1.18 changed every Seed throughout the game, we have started a new in the Caves and Cliffs update part 2. But we didn't just go along and lose our Structures. We simply copied them over into the new world. However, many of our older, unused structures would not be copied over for months to come.

In early March, a new role was added to our discord called @Assassinatable which allows players who are more player vs. player combat-oriented to partake in it legally with others who also have the tag or casual players who just feel like picking a fight without making the casual players feel in danger when they just want to build

On July 27, 2022, even more of the structures from the old world were ported over to the new one, including the old spawn location, some old houses that are now abandoned, and some other historical sites. The old spawn location was definitely missed while it was gone.

Throughout the years 2022 and 2023, a trend was noticed, Members began hoarding their Gold₦ote more and more. This behavior resulted in the wealthiest members accumulating the most wealth than ever and the poorest ones having less than ever. And after many many months of attempting to make changes to regulate the economy that were met with lobbying by the excessively wealthy, A plan was thought up. First, all of the Gold₦ote was counted up. Next, a 2023 mint was produced, then all the wealth in circulation was exchanged for the new mint. This new mint was designed with some new safety features to make duplication of it even more difficult, but it was also designed with a number of key elements to make the economy more consumer friendly. The first change was introducing  Decimal currency to ensure that as long as someone has even just 1₦ on them, they can still spend without losing everything they have. But Decimal currency wasn't the only additional currency put into circulation; the rich were given ₦otes with values as high as 5,000₦ to accommodate for the next change made. The economy's money pool was increased from 100,000₦ to 1,000,000₦ to account for our massively inflated populous since the original printing. These small changes would go on to allow members a new avenue to dispense wealth from one another and interact amongst themselves, but it wouldn't be a permanent fix, so the market would need to be regulated to ensure everyone has a chance at a fair income within the server.

When a new update releases for Minecraft, our community gets to enjoy the updates more in full than most other realms without losing our progress.  Once a new update is released, The 6th Circle is taken offline for a few hours. In this time, we delete and unload unused "chunks" of the world and make the necessary changes to the world to allow players to explore all the new features in their old-fashioned world.  This process has no effect on the ability of players to gain achievements.

While the realm is down, we have a few times allow a "Total Anarchy" event to take place. during this event, none of the actions made will have consequences, as they will soon be replaced with the updated copy of the world. This however is very rare.

As of March 14th of 2021, Gold₦ote became the official trade currency of The 6th Circle. This does not mean players have to use it, just that it's now the most widely used currency. Players are free to create their own if they wish, however many just choose to use Gold₦ote given it's availability, and security. 

 What is Gold₦ote? Gold₦ote are copies of copies of written books with 50 filled pages, 46 of which are filled with gibberish to discourage counterfeiting. There is at most ₦100,000 in circulation at any given time.

Gold₦ote was created because our original currency; Gold items, was deemed too confusing, and made certain things overly expensive, such as curing a zombie villager or creating powered rails. The name was made to honor our past with our new currency.

 The original name for Gold₦ote was proposed to be "Joss" as a nod to a Chinese cultural practice of burning fake money for spirits to use in the afterlife.  This name was proposed because it connects well with the realm's name "The 6th Circle" which in itself was a reference to the book Dante's Inferno which describes the 6th layer of hell as a place where heretics go after they pass. This name was originally chosen for the realm as many of our community's first members didn't consider themselves to be religious.
